School Counselor
Hi, I'm Your School Counselor!
My name is Kristen Glover, and I am the PreK–12 School Counselor at Herman-Norcross Community Schools. I am very excited and grateful to be part of the Herman-Norcross community.
I grew up in Glenwood, Minnesota, and graduated from Minnewaska Area High School in 2021. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2024 and will complete my Master’s degree in School Counseling there in May 2025. This is my first year at Herman-Norcross, and I have truly loved getting to know the students, families, and staff that make this district feel like home.
One of my favorite parts of working in a small school is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students across all grade levels. As a school counselor, I support students in their academic, career, and personal/social development. My goal is to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while encouraging them to explore their interests, strengths, and future goals.
Throughout the school year, I provide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons every other week for PreK–6th grade and monthly SEL rotations for 7th–12th grade. I also meet individually and in small groups with students to support areas such as anxiety, friendship skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, grief and loss, academic concerns, career planning, and family changes.
I strive to create a safe and supportive space where students feel heard and valued. Conversations are kept confidential unless there is a safety concern involving the student or others. I also work closely with teachers, families, and administrators to ensure students receive consistent and meaningful support.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, boating on Lake Minnewaska, being a proud aunt, and going on walks with my three dogs.
I strongly believe that school and family partnerships are essential to student success. Please feel welcome to reach out anytime with questions, concerns, or if your student needs additional support. I am here to help!
College Credit Opportunities at HNCS
Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a program that allows 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school. Students receive both high school and college credit upon successful completion of coursework. PSEO provides an opportunity for students to experience college-level classes, explore career interests, and reduce future college costs.
Students planning to participate in PSEO must notify Herman-Norcross School District of their intent to enroll in PSEO courses by May 30. Students participating in PSEO are responsible for completing required notices, paperwork, and course registration with their selected college or university.

Important Considerations When Choosing College-Level Courses
When selecting dual credit courses, students should consider:
- Choosing courses that meet high school graduation requirements while also earning general college credits.
- Selecting courses that align with their intended college major or career pathway.
Taking college-level courses during high school is a valuable opportunity, but it is also a significant academic commitment. Grades earned in these courses become part of both the student’s permanent high school transcript and college transcript.
If a student withdraws from a course after the semester has started, there may be impacts to their college transcript and potential future financial aid eligibility. Students who withdraw from an eCHS or PSEO course will be enrolled in an HNCS course and will receive a W (Withdrawal) on both their high school and college transcript.

Dual Credit and Activity Eligibility
Credits earned through PSEO and eCHS are considered dual credit, meaning they count toward both high school graduation requirements and postsecondary credit. Coursework completed through these programs may also be used to determine academic eligibility for HNCS extracurricular activities.
